Hearing & Speech Center Scholarship Application
The Hearing and Speech Center offers this Scholarship to residents of the Yakima Valley region to encourage applicants with hearing loss or speech and language disabilities to further their education.
SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- The award is to be used at a post high school institution. The award will be sent directly to the student’s college or technical school upon proof of enrollment.
- The scholarships will be awarded based on the following criteria:
1) Documented hearing loss or speech/language disorder
2) Academic Performance
3) Community Involvement/Leadership
4) Student Essay
5) Financial Need
INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPLETING AND SUBMITTING THE APPLICATION:
- Fully complete and submit the attached application and requested essay.
- Submit documentation of hearing loss (audiogram) or speech/language disorder (Speech and Language evaluation)
- Submit two (2) letters of recommendation; one from a school teacher, counselor or administrator, and one from a community member. (Blank forms included in application packet)
- Submit a transcript of grades, including GPA, and SAT or ACT scores, if applicable.
- Deadline for submission: Must be postmarked by February 28th, 2010.

- Finalists will be notified the week of March 22nd, 2010 and will be asked to attend a personal interview in April with the Scholarship Committee.
- Scholarship winners will be notified by letter by April 30th, 2010.
- Winners and their guests will be invited to attend a presentation in May to receive their awards.
